Nature is our Culture
Growth of the Industry, progress of the corporate, productivity of farmlands, livelihood of poor people, future of our children all rely on one single specific factor. That is our common natural resources – hillocks, streams, bushes, range lands, ponds, tanks, forests, gomalas, gundu thoppus, kalyanis and the healthy soil, rocks and air.
Honey-bee Culture
Our Indian culture and traditional wisdom, for generations had the inherent intuition of designing our life and life style through prudently managing the natural resources. In simple term we can name this wisdom ‘Honey-bee Culture’. While honey bees make their life taking honey from flowers they pollinate for nurturing the plants that provide them honey.
Wisdom Vs Misery
Unfortunately, our honey-bee culture has shifted towards western culture. In this western-culture-based economy, we have started believing in making quick money at any cost. This trend has prepared our minds to consider our natural commons into resources meant for extraction. We in the race have forgotten the fact that there won’t be any healthy common natural resources for our children or our next generation. Leave alone next generation; do we think that even this generation has a healthy living condition? The alien culture has enabled us to create many billionaires in a short term while millions are pushed into misery of poverty. Poverty, unemployment, massive anemic condition, infant mortality, HIV, millions of death due to diarrhea, selling their own children, killing their own infants… the miseries’ list continues.
